Romans 8:1-2

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Romans 8:1-2 – Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Are you set free today? What does that freedom look like? The bible tells us that all things are permissible but not all things are beneficial (1 Cor. 10:23). Simply put, we are at liberty to do anything we want in this life however we are to carefully watch our actions because they can cause harm to our families, lives, and body. This is freedom in Christ; the ability to live life to the fullest within the confines of God’s principles and teachings. The beauty in that is there isn’t any fear of ridicule any longer for these acts (when done with the knowledge of Christ).  We don’t need to be a slave lying in making ourselves look or appear better than what we are; we know in Christ we are all sinners and who we are, what we have and where we’ve come from is only by God’s grace and mercy. We don’t have to feel the pressure to perform immoral act (from sex to cheating people in business) any longer, for we are free to do what is right by all men, knowing that God is the only judge and avenger and he will secure us. We don’t have to get angry or try to seek revenge on other, for we are free to love as Christ loved us – even when we treated him so recklessly and harshly.

The bible speaks of this old state of being as one who is “in chains” or “in bondage” to sin (Psalm 107:10-14). We aren’t bound by these limitations of sin any longer in Christ. There is no reason for the guilt or shame that sin once had over our lives. Now that doesn’t mean we can continue to sin without regard (Rom. 6:1-2), it actually would suggest we have knowledge of God’s truth so we don’t want or desire that life any longer (1 John 3:5-6). Since we’ve been freed, we aren’t obligated to live by our fleshly desires any longer but by the Spirit’s (our purchase agreement in Christ)!

The lack of self-guilt or condemnation is depleted because of Christ. Our changed lives and lifestyles get us on the same accord as Christ. We are never made perfect (for we will sin everyday), however, the lessening of our sinful exploits brings us into a harmony as we do God’s will rather than a perpetual shame and fear because we haven’t ceased our sinful ways.

Today we want you to know that upon your genuine and true acceptance of Christ, there is no more condemnation for your sin-life. Christ paid the price; the penalty for our sins on the cross allowing us to be free of the burden of fear, confusion and ultimate death. Where do you stand now? Are you still beating yourself up over your failures or are you entrusting your soul to Christ in belief that he’s already covered what you never could – the payment for your sins? We pray that wherever you are today, that this meditate encourages you and sets into motion your desire for more of the Spirit to fill your life and less of your old sinful self to keep sticking around. Our knowledge of Christ helps us defeat sin in our lives. Is his knowledge in you? We’re praying for all of you to see Christ’s light shine and for it to shine through you. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
