Romans 12:10

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Romans 12:10 – Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

It’s pretty easy nowadays to express your love for your friends, spouse and family members. It’s done on the internet when we’re far away. We do it through text messages and emails. We even share our sentiments at various outings and special occasions as they arise. Well what about every other moment or occasion in life? Do others know that we care? Do they know they can count on us to be there for them? Do they experience your love?

It may be simple to suggest but the reality is that at times we can be more concerned with ourselves and how things are going with us than with others. We can become scattered in our attentions and throw caution to the wind. Has there been a disconnect within your relationships with friends, family or your spouse? It is possible that our commitment or common ground towards one another has been altered; making our sense of devotion and esteem for each other hit a wall.

What about in the Christian body of believers? Who do you feel about the same brothers and sisters who are actively in this battle with you? They’re taking fire in a barrage of spiritual ammunition that is trying to win their soul……right alongside of you! How does that make you feel? What bond is being built upon the common struggle you’re each facing daily? I submit to you today that the bond which is forged is one of devotion; a commitment to one another not to let the other take on the fight alone. How are we doing in that regard? Do we look at our personal situations and get distracted from God’s work or do we take the focus off of ourselves and get with your spiritual brigade to take on the challenge together?

True devotion is an action byproduct of our love for one another. It’s a concern for one another above circumstances, situations or even yourself. This type of love encourages, motivates and strengthens others through not just words but with actions while you take on the journey with them! In the same way, your honor is produced. It’s not so much that you’re overly devoted to the person but you honor and want to help protect the Jesus within them! This is the devotion and honor today’s passage speaks about.

We must remember, as soldiers in God’s army we are carrying precious cargo; Jesus Christ! Our minds should be set on making sure each other makes it to the destination God has for all of us safely and with our precious cargo intact!!!!

Today we want to focus on the reason that our love, devotion and honor should be heightened in our Christian walk together. It’s not because we are great people or because we’re pretty or strong or wealthy. NO, it is because God has given each of us a precious thing to hold onto and we should want each person to make it back to him with their precious piece of the puzzle still intact! Honor each other above yourself because of the Jesus in them and stay devoted to each other finishing their race because you love that Jesus in them!

If you don’t care about your brothers and sisters who are battling alongside you in this spiritual war to uphold the precious cargo each believer has been given, you might not care about the precious cargo at all! It’s in you believers, let’s protect it in each other and move one another kicking, screaming, clawing and crying back into God’s bosom…….THAT’S LOVE! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
