Psalms 46:1 – 3

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalms 46:1-3 – God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

In keeping with the direct approach that we learned from John yesterday, I wanted us to take a look at the confidence our relationship with Christ should have in our lives.  What are you most confident in? Many people are confident in their jobs or talents. Some of us are confident in our knowledge or physique. We call these things carnal. They inevitably will pass away. They don’t last nor do have any reflection of true power. Think about it, if you lose your high profile job, where is all of your “power” then? If you have an athletic and you get hurt, where does you power go?

In all of these situations or life circumstances, things can change and are ever changing. You not going to be smart forever. You will not look 25 forever. You will not be able to dunk on people forever. Surprise, you won’t have your job forever either….even people with 40 years under their belt retire!

Understand this, life will and probably has already thrown you a curve ball. At times, it can feel like your world is crashing down all around you. People may be against you and your own family may not even support you. Unfortunately, this is a part of life that we will all encounter and deal with on some level.

Today’s passage reassures us that no matter what may be affecting our lives, what problems or situations there may be coming against us – God is not only a safe house for us but he is also strong enough to deal with these things and overpower them. More importantly, he is always there; present in the midst.

Things may be a vision of disaster in your life right now. You may not even know what is going on in your life at this moment. No matter what that situation is, if you are relying on God, you can be confident that He is near to help you with your trial and that he will comfortably guide you through with his love and mighty strength.

Do not fear the situations or problems that are inevitable to come about in your life. Use your energy to connect and cling to God and get to his safe house so that you can be replenished and built up to face every situation head on.

God has a solution and is ready to help you in all things. Are you going to the one who is able to help you or are you trusting in yourself to get you out of tight situations? Remember this, your own help has an unknown quality that can’t be counted on; God’s help is a force that nothing can compete with. You can move forward in the fear of the unknown or in the confidence of the power of God. Which one are you going to choose?

Our prayer is that you begin to face your fear head on and get securely planted in God so that nothing will be able to shake you. Then and only then, will you be able to truly experience this life to its fullest potential. Be well and let this word move you into the realm of spiritual confidence that has God’s power all over it. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
