Psalms 150:6

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!

It seems simply enough to consider all that we have or have been given and to attribute it to the goodness of God. At least on some intellectual level we can comprehend this idea but how visible is that in our lives? The actuality of knowing God has blessed your life and the behavior that is exhibited when you truly have seen his mercy in your life are two different things.

We all “know” some things. Some of the things we know are learned and others are just core values. We understand the surface responses and revelations when someone claims to know a person that they’ve actually only seen from afar. We even can distinguish between knowing a person’s pain and really feeling their pain. The issue becomes reality when we don’t internalize that which we know.

When we keep reality from being actuality in our lives we are easily disconnected or desensitized to what is more than just knowledge. Ever heard of someone being thought of as a robot in a relationship? There are many reasons for that but one key reason is because there is no feeling for what is real. There is no understanding of what makes up the human experience; there is no ability to reciprocate an actuality, just the knowledge or intellect to respond based off of what someone is programmed with.

So how does this fit into today’s passage? I’m so glad you asked. We all intellectually “know” that God has provided everything in our lives. Whether you’re a believer or not, there is something innate in your spirit that assists you in wanting to know more about your purpose, where you came from and if there is a “higher power” that is orchestrating life. The question becomes, have you made the connection yet? Have you moved from the “I know” to the “I live because I know”. These are vastly different ends of the spectrum that we’ve all got to get to so that God’s praise is always on our lips and in everything that we do.

Take for example the topic of death. We all know that we’re going to die but no one gets serious about it until their up in age. Why should it be a topic of conversation when I’m a child, a teen or a young adult? Well because the reality is we’re all on the chopping block daily. The other end of the stick would see a person who knows that tomorrow isn’t promised, but living in that knowledge they do things (live this life) that would leave their mark if they died today!

That’s the difference! Knowing isn’t worth anything if you don’t act on what you “know”.

God has given us everything that we need and sometimes some of the things we want. We “know” that he can provide, we “know” he can get us out of situations, and we “know” that he wants us to be with him in heaven. In light of all that we “know”, is it too hard for us to give him his just due in praise and worship because of who he is or has been to us? As a believer, I KNOW that if I commit myself to his teachings and sacrifice my life in obedience, there are promises for my life and the life to come. That intellect spurs me on to give him praise with my life, my soul, my actions, my thoughts and everything else I have to offer him!

Today we pray that you’re knowledge of God moves you to do something that lets the world “know” God is living and active in your life! Let us remember how good and great our God has been to us and allow it help you not only “know” you should give him praise, but actually do it every day, everywhere, and at every chance you get. As long as you breathe, praise the Lord you disciple of Christ! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
