Psalm 59:16

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 59:16 – But I will sing of your strength in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

Hope you all had a great day off to enjoy the holiday.

We revisit something that should help us in our daily living situations. As you are all aware, we are subject to difficult circumstances at various times in our lives. How we handle these situations say a lot about our where our spiritual maturity is and what we’re truly relying on as our definitive source of strength.

Did you know that the human body wasn’t made to handle stress, illness or disease? You’re probably saying well we know that! However, do you understand that beyond intellectual terms? One of the reasons that the human body breaks down under these conditions is because it was never intended to have to handle them. Needless to say, we weren’t made to supply the type of strength to endure these things. In that, we must see what our natural inclination is once we fall prey to one of these circumstances. We look to God!

Ever noticed when something happens to you whether the car breaks down or the doctor tells you bad news, you and everyone who knows you points to God in some way or another? Think about it… An athlete has a season ending injury, he/she thinks, “Oh Lord, what am I going to do now?” or The doc gives you bad news, you think “oh my God, I’m possibly going to die?” or Your house is up for foreclosure, you think “God I don’t want to lose my house, please help me!” or even you don’t have food for your kids to eat, you say “God please just provide something for my family today so we can see tomorrow!” In all of these situations, we at times, unconsciously point to God to find the strength we need to overcome that which we know we can’t overcome on our own. The problem is we’re not truly connected to what it is we’re saying and we’re not taking into consideration how much we’re really leaning on God to supply for us. Some might insist that it’s just the prototypical thing to say when you’re “going through it”, but I want to suggest that even if you don’t call yourself a believer, you innately know that only God can bring you through your difficulties. The flipside of that is that we don’t call on him intentionally for his strength and love; we just put it out there without belief that he hears us or expectancy that he’ll even show up.

God is our supplier of love and strength. Whether you acknowledge that fact in your life or not, it is the truth. If you don’t think so, the next time you have a hard, stressful or life threatening circumstance see whose name comes out of your mouth first when you’re asking for help!!

Today we want to encourage everyone to be intentional and wait in expectancy for God to actively show up in your life with his strength and love. Look to sing his praise even before he arrives because it’s already in you to call on him. Since you unconsciously can speak to him; knowing that he alone can save you, start taking his strength and love more seriously so that your strength and love are being built up from the right source. He is the refuge that protects us from all that we have no strength to protect ourselves from. Make a point to connect with the Father daily so that his strength and love are what people see in and from you – EVERYDAY! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
