Psalm 42:11

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 42:11 – Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed with me? Put you hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Sometimes it’s good to just talk to yourself. We’ve all done it. It seems that even in our times of distress or decision making it gets to a point that we have to remind ourselves of the reality of our situations. We can get distracted from what could be truly taking place in our lives and miss the lesson or revelation that God has for us. This is why staying in our bibles is so critical. When we are in balance with the Word of God, its concepts, guidance, teachings and commands stay on our hearts. In times of need, we recall that what we’ve poured into ourselves or allowed God to enrich us with to power through our situations. It’s a basic principle of life that we have to apply to our spiritual well-being.

Think about it, you never go and take a test on a whim, right? No one ever goes into battle without a plan and surely you can’t attain any vision without practically approaching the steps necessary to achieve that goal. Just as in test taking you prepare by studying the subject material and rely on the ability to remember it when it’s test time. When the threat of battle is afoot, keen minds work together to forge a strategy that will put them in position to win and as long as everyone remembers what to do, they can be victory. Lastly, can you walk into a gym and say that you’re an athlete but have never practiced or worked out? By no means! If you haven’t put in the work ethic that is necessary nor have any skills you’ve practiced or rely on to utilize in competition to become your vision, do you really think you will achieve anything?

In the same way we have to fill ourselves with the Word of God. There is no way you can reflect and remember how to encourage yourself when times get tough if you haven’t studied God’s word and seen how to do it! There’s no way to get out of your slump if you’ve never learned how to fix your eyes on Jesus! You won’t overcome the sin of your life without gaining convictions on how they make God feel or what he has to say about them. The only way you get to that point is by investing your time in God’s word!

There is power and breakthrough when we grasp the big picture in our ever growing relationship with God. However, we don’t remember the hope we have if we’re not connected to the source on a consistent basis. If you want to experience the hope of Jesus and the promises of God, if you want to learn how to give God praise even in the midst of your afflictions and if you want to remember these crucial life-saving facts when you’re at your lowest point – you’re going to have to be full of biblical principles you can fall back on to strengthen you in those moments of need!

As we approach this weekend, we have the perfect opportunity to get back on track with filling ourselves with the goodness of God. Your local church teaching Christ is a great place to begin rebuilding or strengthening yourself to be ready for the trials of live that are sure to come. Today’s scripture gives us a glimpse of how we should react when we find ourselves at a point of distress and despair. Our prayer is that we get ourselves built up with God’s word so we can fall back on it for strength and to help us come back to our senses when we need it most. Be inspired to remember where to fix your eyes when your world is in shambles. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
