Psalm 40:8

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 40:8 – I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.

What does it all comes down to in the end anyways? What is it that we want from this life and how can we make the best of what we currently have? Our passions are deep and our motivations are wide ranging. The prize is in the journey for we all have to take it.

If you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re thinking, “ok, that’s really loaded!” So ponder on that for a second……………………………… ok, do you see it now?

Let’s begin. Everything in our life comes from our inward desire to fulfill a specific need. We all have it. Free will in our lives suggests that we have everything at our disposal. In turn, we rationalize the responses to our wants as an flaw of human nature.

Did you know that everything you put your mind to comes from a desire to achieve something? At times the very way we walk, talk, dress, groom ourselves or even the kind of car we drive is because of a desire to gain something. Whether it is for personal gain or you’re outwardly focused, we do things from the desires of our heart. They shape who we are and how others see us.

With that in mind, from your Christian eyes (assuming you’re a believer in Jesus Christ) what desires are in your heart? What are the motivating factors that move you to continually, day after day, do what it is that is righteous, just and pleasing to God? I want us to take the self-evaluation test for a moment. Are we all in agreement that based on the outward expressions of some people, you can fairly accurately determine what their focus in life is and what their desires are? If so, then would it be a safe conclusion to believe you can tell by the outward expression of a genuine Christian believer, what their heart’s desires are?

What flows out of us from within; the desires of our hearts, are a clear indicator to men and God as to what we have stored up in our core beings and  use as a foundation to build our lives upon.

For the person who has the desires of getting rich, from them you will get the attributes of someone who is focused on riches. For the person who desires men or women, from them you will see the actions of a person focused on that. Even a person who is focused on his or her family will display the attributes of a person focused on their family. In their heart is the law of what it takes to manifest their desires. Shouldn’t this be the same for God’s people? We should have the laws of God etched into our souls so that the desires of seeing Him pleased are manifested through our lives.

I have a question for us… What laws are in you? Knowingly or unknowingly we all have a will in your body that motivates us to action. The second part of that question would be, who’s will is being displayed in your life?

Pray this prayer with me: Lord Father God, you have given us free will that resides within us. At times, our will can lead us astray and harm us. You know this and have set up principles that when followed will assist us in avoiding the pitfalls of life. Besides that, you know what is good for us. Help us today to understand how much more superior your will is for our lives; that it isn’t designed to harm us, to entrap us or to destroy us but to give us life and life to the full here on Earth and with you in Heaven. We want your will to reside in us. Take up residence in our bodies and move us into a new existence with your desires being manifested through our lives. We praise you and we humbly thank you in advance for hearing our prayers and expecting you to act in accordance to your grace, mercy and will so that our sacrifice would be pure and pleasing to you. Shape us to display attributes that bring others into knowledge of you and your word and we will be careful to give you the honor and praise in all things. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN!
