Psalm 118:24

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Psalm 118:24 – The Lord has done it this very day: let us rejoice today and be glad.

Do you have anything to be happy for today? It is very cliché when we think about it or even say it, but didn’t God wake you up this morning? Did he not make sure that you have a meal today? Do you have clothes on your back again? Did you have a warm bed to sleep in last night…. again? Did you make it to work safely today….. again? Do you still have your common sense about yourself today? Do all of your limbs work like they did yesterday? There are so many things we take for granted on a daily basis – things we think or assume are supposed to just be in effect just because. In that we lose our gratitude and don’t appreciate all that God has done again for us today!

So, let us imagine that you woke up today bedridden. Maybe you woke up today unable to see today. Suppose you woke up to find out you had nowhere to go. What if you woke up today as a spirit? Do you think you’d have the same regrets as the rich man in the bible (Luke 16:27-28)? Do you think you’d be ok with all the affliction that befell would you? Would you understand you situation to be a part of God’s plan for your life? Would you be appreciative to God for what he had given you?

I believe it is safe to say that our initial reaction would be “why me?” or something very similar (but we have censored this). God has made it (our lives) and all we have happen again today because he isn’t done with us. He still has a plan for each and every one of us. There is still hope in finding him and being changed.

As we examine our lives today, we have to really evaluate if we truly have anything to be grateful for and how should that gratitude flow out of our lives. Too many times we walk around with the look of hindrance and trouble on our faces but as a Christian we should rarely be downcast. Every day we wake up and are presented with a new opportunity to rectify something in our character to make it submit to the Lord is a day to rejoice in. Not to take what God has given us and think nothing of it but to appreciate how that these things are available for us to achieve the goal God has for us in our lives.

Today, if God has done “it” or anything for you in your life today, we want you to set aside some dedicated time to commune with our Lord and give him thanks. Allow the gratitude of your heart to be an overwhelming fixture on your face and spring of joy on your lips. Recognizing what God has done for us each day of our existence should reap a spirit of joy, peace, gratitude and hope. If these attributes are missing from your life, let’s get refocused and centered on the one who continues to do it again and again and again for us. With renewed focus, a renewed appreciation for that which we overlook becomes evident again. Then you will see the light and you will rejoice and be glad in it! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
