Proverbs 3:7-8

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration:  Proverbs 3:7-8 – Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

This week has been revealing, eye-opening, and a chance to reevaluate my prospective on how God is to me. Hopefully it has lit a fire inside you as well. We’ve seen that in our existence, God is totally unfair. However, His unfairness to us is often seen as a negative, but in reality it is an amazing and surprisingly positive thing. We (hopefully) have gone from a state of thinking that God doesn’t really care about us here on earth to a mindset of gratitude in how much he displays his care for us. The part we may be missing is that God isn’t bound to this world – he created it. So we when try to break down his love and care for us we will never understand it. Why? Because God looks at us in the realm of eternity; He’s more concerned about our timelessness with him than our time we have on this earth. This is why his love pours out in him making every effort, every opportunity and every correction in our lives so that we will come to want to be with Him – forever! If we are narrow minded in our thinking we will miss this part and essentially waste away not only the time he’s given us here on earth but eternity we could be with him in heaven. This leads us to our point to end this week’s devotional topic.

We can’t stay in our mundane thought patterns and think we’re going to figure out the keys of life. We each need help and God has provided that very thing for us all. The ideas are simple to some, too simple to others, and others can’t wrap their heads around it. The only way to clarity is through ways that God has set up. People, Pastor’s (tried, tested, and true biblical disciples), and his Word (divine inspiration); these are the ways God speaks to us all. We don’t know it all! We’ll never understand how unfair God truly is to us if we’re not connected to the local church that is authentically teaching Christ crucified, reading our bibles every day to get knowledge of true history and direction for our futures, or walking this journey with devoted and obedient Christians who are conformed to the principles of Jesus and God’s word just like those who paved the way for us stretching back as far as to the 1st century church.

One of the easiest ways to get on the right track is by truly understanding that God doesn’t owe you or me anything! Everything he has done, everything he is currently doing and everything he has promised to do is a gift from the kind, caring, and love heart of God. WE DON’T DESERVE ANYTHING FROM GOD! Understanding this fact helps us to move forward in gratitude; running to do what God desire because we understand he could have did nothing at all! When we move in gratitude, obedience to his commands is easy to do and enjoyable. We cut out the sinful tendencies we’ve formally loved and are inspired to be better. We begin to experience the richness of God’s grace, mercy and spiritual fruit in our lives, giving us confidence, power, and fullness in Jesus Christ. This is what this scripture means for us. God’s love puts us on a track that restores us mentally, physically, and emotionally. We don’t pollute our minds, bodies, or heart with the desires of the sinful nature any longer, but with the fullness of God’s knowledge and wisdom. Is that a fair exchange? Once again, who’s the beneficiary?

Today we pray that this week has concluded with statement of action for yourself; to understand how unfair God has been to you and what your response should be because he did it. Take on God’s nature and mindset in being unfair; in the end, he’s doing what any father would do for his children – protecting them from themselves. The question would be do you want God’s protection through his Son Jesus Christ? We pray you do! Make a wise choice in choosing Christ. It’s the smartest decision any of us could ever make, especially if God has chosen you first in his unfairness. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
