Proverbs 25:28

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Proverbs 25:28 – Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

There isn’t much that needs to be said about our patience with others. God’s word is clear on what our positions should be in that regard. Our ability to be patient goes hand-in-hand with our self-control or lack thereof. When we decide to avoid being patient with others and react or do things without consideration we will be perceived as person with a tremendous hole in our character. We have displayed a weakness that the enemy now has access to.

When we have such a weakness that is displayed to everyone, it’s easy for everyone to attack you. How does that look? I’m glad you asked… A lack of self-control in any area tells our enemy that we can be penetrated. Think about it, when someone who knows you don’t like certain things they do, but they come around and intentionally do it in your presence; you have been penetrated. What about when your friends suggest doing something that puts you in a compromising situation and you do it knowing you have a weakness in that area; you have been penetrated. What if you have a bad disposition but someone knows you can’t hit them or you’ll be put in jail. They challenge you on something and you lose it; you my friend have been penetrated.

In all of these situations you have a trigger that leads you to making a decision. The trigger is your own personal gaping hole that has been exploited. What do you do? Do you continue to let these triggers effect your live decisions or do you fix it. What we have to recognize is that there is a problem. Once we see our problem we can do something about it to make better decisions that will safeguard ourselves and those closest to us.

The answer to the problem is to fix the vulnerability. No one goes around wanting to be attacked. When we leave these areas of our lives unprotected or unrepaired we essentially tell the enemy that their attacks are welcome. Just like the city in the scripture with its broken walls, you too will always be up for an attack in that area of your life. Until you repair the area with the self-control that keeps you out of trouble and potential harm, you are always in danger and lacking in that area.

Today we want to encourage you all to be in prayer about making good decisions and start repairing areas in your life that are broken down because of your own lack of self-control. Don’t leave your life open to the attack of the enemy! If you do it long enough, he will eventually destroy you and your city. Have a great day and be motivated to adding self-control to your life so that you may fortify your walls to protect you and those in your city. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
