Matthew 28: 5-6

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Matthew 28:5-6 – The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

There’s a lot to be said about this passage but I’ll only touch on one angle today. Everyday we search for the unknown. We want to be find the answers to life and we want to know what it is God is doing in our lives. Jesus help us to see you more clearly. Jesus help us to understand what it is that we’re going through. Jesus show up in our situations. How funny is it to look for something or someone that is right there? We are frantic, we are worried and we even try to retrace our steps to make sure that we’re not going crazy. What do this mean for us?

We want Jesus to be physically present so that we can see or understand him. We want to be able to believe in him even though we’ve never seen him face to face. The reality is this, Jesus’ physical appearance on Earth has left. So the question remains; do we still search him out and how do we find him? The answer is it’s through his messengers!!

One thing that can set us back is that we think we need to physically find Jesus or it will be hard for us to believe. In the passage today, we see that an angel delivered the message to Mary for Jesus. Now it is true that Jesus could have appeared to her, but he sent his messenger to speak to her. It was her obedience to the messenger that allowed her to begin her journey and eventually see Jesus again.

With that being said, if you’re search for answers, it would be safe to ask, are you being obedient to the messengers that God has sent to you?

Many times in life we’re approached by someone or encouraged to make specific changes in our lives so that we can “find answers” or “find Jesus” but do we take heed to the instructions of the messenger? God’s messengers are those of US who actively assume the responsibilities of living and conducting ourselves as Christians. They are the preachers, pastors and other biblically inclined teachers of God’s word that speak on God’s behalf. The words they speak are the absolute words of God and it is our duty, especially if we want to “find” answers, to listen to his messengers and be obedient to what they are saying to do from God’s word.

Today the focus is on how to find Jesus. If you’re not listening to his messengers, it’s going to be hard for you find the presence of God. Even as you’re reading this, you’re thinking of what you’ve been told to do over various times in your life. You know that you should be listening to things you’ve been told….. but are you going to be obedient to the instructions of his messengers so you can go and find Jesus?

Our prayer today is that you start listening to the folks God sends to give you instructions. Jesus isn’t here on Earth physically any longer, but he can still be found NOW if you take the guidance of his messengers while you’re searching. Who has Jesus put in your life that he’s trying to instruct you through? Remember God works through people now so that we can see him a bit more clearly. If you don’t have those types of people in your life, today’s not a bad day to get started. Bible study is this evening at 7pm at DaySpring Christian Center located at 16115 S. Denker Ave., Gardena 90247. Come and be obedient so that you will gain access to a treasure you’ve searched your whole life for. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN!
