Matthew 16:15-16

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration – Matthew 16: 15-16 – But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

At face value we are all seen by others in a certain light. We all have an esteem before us that suggests that we are who we say we are. Isn’t it funny that no one who spends time with you will ever tell you that you’re not who you say you are? Of course there are some people out there who live facades and make up these false upbringings and outlandish lifestyles, but I’m speaking about the regular genuine person. When you’re around someone long enough, you will know who they are and if they’re a fraud or not.

As you live this life calling yourself a Christian, you better believe that people will question who you really are! The question is, when the test comes up, will you pass? This is important because even in the example of someone who’s been around you long enough, whether you know it or not, they have tested you to see if you’re the genuine article or not. They have sized you up, they have examined your stories, they have looked at consistencies in your daily pattern of living and they have come to the conclusion that you are who you say you are…..or you are not.

Christianity is dedication. It is an intentional and purposeful living. One of the main purposes that your Christian walk should look like God is in it is because YOU are how God will be able to draw his flock in. If you say you’re a Christian, that says to someone that you live in a manner that respects, abides and lives out the words of the bible. No one will come to Jesus to be saved if your life doesn’t resemble that of someone who’s been saved!!!! As you live your daily life calling yourself a Christian, believe me, people will test you. They will size you up, they will examine your lifestyle, they will test your convictions, and will be checking to see if you’re the for real or not.

So why is this so important? Well, who you say you are matters whether someone will believe that God is who he says he is. If you live a life that is unaffected by that which you claim to follow, why would anyone want to follow the same thing?

When we put God in the forefront of our lives, we have called direct attention to who he is and what we say he can do in our lives if we surrender to his principles and commands. If you look powerless, afflicted and defeated or unchanged out of your nature sinful habits, who do you think you’re saying that God is?

Today, if we’re going to make others see the same Jesus in the bible that we profess to believe in, we’re going to have to make sure we’re living as people who believe he is the Son of God. People will ask you, verbally and non-verbally, who do you say Jesus is? Consciously or unconsciously your life will answer. You will either compel others to believe based on your lifestyle and conduct or you will push people away from the only hope that YOU know. Who do I say Jesus is? Look at my life and you tell me.

We pray that your life is an example of Jesus and who he says he is to you. If he is your savior, showcase it! You could be leading someone to have their soul saved. Let Jesus be real in your life so others will believe he is who he says he is. In Jesus name, AMEN!
