Leviticus 19:18

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Leviticus 19:18 – Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

People will be people. No matter if you’re a God fearing Christian believer or an atheist. The human nature is what Jesus says we need to deny ourselves of – on a daily basis. There’s a good reason for it to.

We naturally or instinctively conduct or react to situations from a protective viewpoint. We are innately prone to defending ourselves even if you’re not naturally a fighter. It’s a part of you; albeit not the best part of you, it’s something you still have to live with.

As God was laying out the laws to Moses to take to the Israelites, he must have had this in mind. One of the reasons for the “levitical” laws was to establish order for God’s people. The other aspect of that order was to produce unity. Now, this unity was essential because nations near and far would need to know that God’s people had a common thread that linked them to the one true God of heaven and earth and that was being of one accord with God’s laws.

The instruction was to help eliminate something an enemy could use against the Israelites to separate them and make them come against one another.

As God’s children today, we are faced with the same threats within our own churches. God in his omnipotence is giving us the foresight to be aware of and to eradicate such plagues that the enemy will try to use to destroy our church families.

The plagues of revenge and grudges in the church are two very deceptive things. They can literally destroy a church building and scatter God’s people! This is done by creating small groups pitted against one another, creating rumors specifically designed to make others feel outcast or even go against the head of the church creating these radical groups that question the very teaching of God’s word. Before you know it, revenge has begot revenge and everyone is looking to pay back their brother or sister in Christ inside the church and outside.

God’s law is good! The challenge for us is to be Christians that stand up to the enemy and not allow these plagues to infiltrate our Christian families. When we see even a hint of these types of behavior, we should deal with it as God has commanded – in love. Love cools hot heads, it keeps no records of wrong, it doesn’t blame. Love comforts, clears the air and brings forth amicable solutions – in unity, as God intended!

Today, the focus is simple; be vigilant in keeping the unity of your Christian church by outing the plagues the enemy may try to use against your ministry to stop God’s word from going forth. We have the power in Christ to overcome if we stand together. Keep fighting the good Christian fight together and may the love of Christ lead us all to victory. Have a great day and we pray this meditation opens your eyes enacting God’s laws in your church families. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
