John 6:35

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: John 6:35 – Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Let us start off right with substance that will fill our souls.

Have you ever ate something and shortly after were hungry again? Have you been in segments of life where not your job, friends, hangout spots or even being alone were enough? Or have you ever wondered why there have been rich people who want to take their lives? I think that we can all relate or attest to this at one time or another. The question still remains, why isn’t it all enough?

Our passage today points to the very reality that we all face, our desire for more. We try to fill ourselves up with everything the world has to offer but it’s never enough! Jesus seems to put things into prospective with his declaration. As we live this life, we consume ourselves with many things that don’t add substance or filling in our souls. We want more or better when we have so much already…. And even those who lack in certain areas, that still have enough, but aren’t even grateful for that which they have? Either way, we’re never satisfied. Jesus identifies himself as the source of true filling; a substance that you will never have need or want for after you take of him!

I believe we can at times get caught up in the notion that if I’m a Christian, I’m supposed to have more. Well that’s not exactly true. It may not be God’s plan to ever give you more money, esteem, friends, job success or anything tangible or material, BUT he will give you more peace, joy, happiness, patience, kindness, less anxiety and a bigger hope and gratitude. Now that feels good and it fills good! Get it?

If you’re continuing to eat the candy of this world (tangible material things) you will continue to have a want and need for substance (something more filling) in your life. Jesus (the bread of life) has made himself available to you and I, so that we may have access to a feast, a fulfilling that will sustain us for years to come. What do you want to feast on today? I submit to you all, too much candy – not only rots your teeth but your body also.

Our prayer today is for us to come to Jesus and get some of the everlasting bread and water. Jesus is life, come and have it to the fullest. Have a great day and fill up on that which will sustain you day after day. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
