John 12:13

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: John 12:13 – They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

It is early in the morning today (even as I type) and we have an agenda on our hearts. Things we want to get done today, places we need to be, worries have already started….BUT STOP!! How are you going to welcome in the Lord as you start your day? Where does He fit into your day? How important is it to you to have a great start to your day but acknowledging Him and giving Him praise as He enters us into a new day?

We all get wrapped up in our days with everything that will eventually pass away and give priority to every other thing that will have no relevance in the end. Good morning Christian, what has your mind this morning? Our passage today seems to point to the mindset we should be in when we are aware that the King is coming….or in better terms for the sake of this scripture, entering us into His presence again; waking us up!

What will be your reaction this morning or any morning hereafter BEFORE you start you day? When was the last time that you woke up and broke out in genuine shouting (not too loud) to give God thanks for just simply waking you up? Was that on your agenda before you went to bed last night?

It is easy to overlook the simplicity of giving God thanks and praise in the morning because of our on lack of discipline. Let me point to something that this passage dropped on me: No matter what the people were doing before they heard Jesus was entering the city, when they found out it was so, they STOPPED what they were doing, and ran to meet him with praise.

How does this apply to your life? I’m so glad you asked. It points to the fact that no matter what is going on in our lives, what we were doing the night before, what problems we’re trying to plan for today, no matter how tired we are and definitely no matter what may seem to be important, when we crack our eyes open to a new day – there should be some type of rejoicing, praising, and running straight to the Father to give thanks!!! Period!

The people in the passage were excited to see the King and wanted to know what he had in store for them; and they greeted him as you should when you’re in the presence of a King. Our Father is omnipresent; he is everywhere all at the same time. That means as a Christian believer we are always in the presence of our King. When we’re doing bad, when we’re doing good, even when we don’t know what we’re doing – God is present!

What will be the first thing you do when you’re in the presence of God from this day forward? Our prayer today is that we get back to the basics and start conducting ourselves in the proper manner when in the presence of our King. Be encouraged today not to be cliché with our “Thank You, God” statements, but to genuinely connect with the source of our waking power and truly give Him the honor, glory and praise He deserves.

If God woke you up this morning and you’ve had an opportunity to read this message, take it as a sign that we need to get our spiritual focus back so that as we praise our just King, he can bless us with love, peace and prosperity in our lands. We hope that this devotional moves you in a real way to connect with the Father daily as you rise and give Him the first of your day with praise and acknowledgement. Be well Christian family, in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
