James 5:8

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration:  James 5:8 – You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.

We are an impatient race. The human race has evolved into a society of NOW. We want everything now! We want everything to be easier, more convenient, and simpler. We have learned how to make our efficiencies spoil us and find shortcuts in our existence. The problem is there is no shortcut when it comes to God and his plans for our lives.

In our desire for everything to be so readily available to us, have you considered whether or not you are really ready for what it is you as for? Strange to think about when we see a person blow through millions of dollars and we say, “That would have never happened to me”. Maybe you see someone with the car of your dreams but it’s filthy! You say, “How could they treat that car like that? If I had that car, I’d….” There are many scenarios we could look at and identify but when it comes down to it sometimes we’re just not ready for what is to come. This is a very significant point because in God’s plan, it may be an opportunity that he is presenting you with so that you can get prepared for what he has for you or more importantly, what is to come.

There are a couple of certainties in this life; one being that we will all die. The other is that our Father God and Lord Jesus Christ will be coming back! Now if the question isn’t if but when, surely the more important question would be are you going to be ready?

Being ready for what is in God’s plan (that includes Jesus coming back) is living a life patiently awaiting his arrival but also with a commitment to living in an expected manner. We want to live our lives in the knowledge of knowing that when God comes back, it will be to judge mankind – but that we want to be in the proper place of grace when he comes. Today’s scripture points to each of us stating that YOU TOO should be patient and stand firm. This is a directive to be ready for what is to come – Jesus’ return! Are you certain that you’re ready for that to take place?

As we stand firm in Jesus’ teachings it will help us to be prepared for anything that comes our way. We are overcome by a resolve that allows us to be content and patient in this life because our hope is in Christ and being ready for whenever he comes. The mindset should be one of preparation for that which we hope for. Our hope is to be with Christ when he returns, what is it that you’re hoping for in your life today?

As we meditate on the scripture and what it means for our lives today, let us consider all of the things that we want now in our lives. Are we really ready for them if we were to get them? Now think about what you think is more important, having hope in the things of this world or in Christ who will reveal his glory again? Sometimes we don’t get things in this life because we’re just not ready for them and they would distract us from doing what God wants. God wants us to mature in him so that no matter what he supplies or when he supplies it we will be ready to appreciate it. Jesus hasn’t made his move back to earth yet but are you maturing into the spiritual being God wants you to be so you can be ready to appreciate Jesus when he comes back? Our prayer today is that YOU TOO get to where God wants you so whenever he’s ready to move in our lives, we are ready and able to truly appreciate his grace, mercy and love through his son Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
