Isaiah 53:5

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Have you taken time to really say “Thank You” to God for Jesus Christ? Now really, I want you to think on this for a moment. Have you really expressed your thanks in the truest sense of the words – unto God? I think that if we’re honest we can overlook the seriousness in which we should approach how, why & when we say those words. A sincere “thank you” isn’t just an utterance of words, it’s a compelling argument that suggests I appreciate you greatly.

We all know what a thank you is…..right? When someone loans you that extra $50 for a bill you needed to pay, you’d say…..? When you should have gotten your freedom taken but the lawyer was able to get you off, you’d say……? When your child was about to be harmed and someone came out of nowhere and saved them until you arrived, you would say……? & when someone took you in because you didn’t have anywhere else to go, you’d say…..?

Each of these instances has an emotional tie that generates a response of deep compassion and desire you show appreciation in any and every way possible for a person. A simple “thank you” suffices as evidences that you are beyond appreciative but motivates you to an action that showcases that fact.

Our “thank you’s” imply that we had a genuine need, concern or issue and it was met! Someone saw our need for something and they went into action to take care of it. Our “thank you’s” also carry the idea that we couldn’t have done it ourselves so we think of the best verbal response we can to show forth our gratitude. A true “thank you” will maybe have you tear up, reflect over what could have happened, or even make you want to help someone else in their time of need.

Now, with that in mind, Jesus knew that we were destined for eternal separation from God if someone didn’t do something! He knew that we had a need which needed to be met because there was nothing that we could do on our own to meet it. He knew what the sacrifice was going to be and he still made a way for us all to once again have a relationship with our heavenly Father, GOD. So, when you say “Thank You, God” or “Thank You, Jesus”, what gratitude is produced in your life because of what the scripture says He’s done for you? Is it heartfelt thanks that is displayed in doing what his word says? Is it breaking down because you’ve reflected over what you’ve done in your past and are thankful he didn’t give up on you? Do you tear up because of how our continued sin had to be punished and he obediently took that punishment on the cross for you and I? OR do you just say “thank you” and then nothing in your life shows you’re truly thankful? That’s not how you’d act for a mere human who’s done something for you…..is it? I know, it just got quiet. It’s ok because I’m 100% convicted too!

Today I submit to you that Jesus came and died on the cross for all of mankind. Some believe this and a lot of others don’t but the prayer today is that for those of us who do believe, we live a true and genuine “thank you” type life that shows God our appreciation for Jesus and helps others to gain the same appreciation. Be well, blessed and encouraged today. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
