Isaiah 48:17

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Isaiah 48:17 – This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.

Knowledge is power! A slogan from the early 80’s made popular by someone with a passion for the value of education and what it is able to produce in life if you can acquire it. Many people have taken that very notion and applied it to the areas of their lives which have helped them to excel and become successful. Most would agree that because of the knowledge they gained, they were able to make better decisions, streamline their focus and energy into specific directions and be placed in position to reap the benefits of just being in the know. Knowledge provides the assistance to go to where we want to go and where we need to go. It is a benefit of instruction. The power is the confidence that proceeds; the ability to know you’re doing things the right way to reach the overall goal.

Sounds sweet right? Well it is. As we identify how knowledge makes things better for us in life on Earth, it points us to how does that translate to our spiritual lives? What knowledge do we have and how has or does it help us for God’s purposes? Before we answer those important questions we have to first examine who it is we’re listening to? Who is our knowledge coming from?

People like to say “The devil made me do it!” Funny thing is that’s only partially true. Did you know that in every human being, there are three (3) different entities speaking to a person at one time or another? There is the Holy Spirit, there is the enemy and of course, there is YOU! With that being said you know you have an equal chance of 33.3% of hearing the instruction of God. The part that becomes hard is recognizing who you give your 33.3% to! When you give you portion over to the enemy, you are siding with his instruction, information, or knowledge to go in the direction he wants. We get overwhelmed with guilt or frustration because we’ve made a shareholder the majority leader (66.6%) over what we think and know but we already know what he has to offer isn’t what’s best for us….. but since we take on his knowledge, we think “I know what I’m doing and this is what I’m supposed to be doing!” Who do you really sound like? That same attitude got someone kicked out of heaven….but guess what, you’re like the one you’ve gained your knowledge from – your teacher!

On the other hand, you can side with the Creator! Our Father God, who knows what’s best for us and will point us in the right direction! When we release our 2 cents to God, he starts to give us knowledge that we couldn’t begin to have fathomed. His teachings (when we obey them) help us to make wise decisions. His directives keep us out of danger and perilous situations. His knowledge helps us to recognize that our thoughts aren’t good enough and that we need his to press on. God’s 33.3% and yours together points people to grace. Your 33.3% put together with the enemy’s points people to YOU! If we keep pointing to ourselves, no one will be able to neither have hope nor see the love and perfection of God! What you’re teaching is that there’s no chance for anyone to be made better!

When we let God instruct and direct us, we are able to point to him, give him glory and showcase to others that because of us heeding his direction, we’re receiving the best of what his direction can produce – even more than that, we have so much more to look forward to beyond what anyone can see! The bible (God’s word) teaches us about that!

Today, we want to ask you – who is your teacher? What is your teacher teaching you? Is your teacher’s knowledge enhancing your life? More importantly, are you proud and willing to share the knowledge you’ve gained from your teacher with others? If your path isn’t leading to light (to Christ), you should be concerned about who you’re letting direct and teach you. As it is still today, pray for God to be the sole entity in your life that you allow to lead you. Accept no imitations. Our Creator is the only one who truly knows what’s best for us and his way leads to righteousness. Let him teach, direct and lead the way in your life – remember you can’t lose if you do! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
