Hebrews 10:35-36

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Hebrews 10:35-36 – So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

This week we’ve been themed with our praise of God; how that looks, why we do it and how it should be a part of our nature every day. It’s amazing how when we delve into scripture, it may not particularly speak about praising God but since there are so many nuggets in a scripture, it’s hard to come out of reading his word without having something to rejoice and praise him about. Today we attempt to find this same joy; to rejoice and have valid cause for giving God glory and praise all over again – not like you didn’t have good reason already!

Like any relationship, our relationship with God is built off of trust. This trust is what some would call faithfulness. It’s the belief that someone is going to do what they say or have said and you blindly, without doubt, trust in them to come through or have taken care of what they have said they would do. Think about it, this is what we have in our Earthly relationships. It’s the two-way street where each person in the agreement has a part to play and to reach the overall collectively desired goal, each person has to pull their weight (refer to Luke 9:23 to see what your weight looks like)!

On one side of the street we have our part to play. Our job in this relationship with Christ is keep growing in his teachings, applying them to our lives, becoming more blameless (not sinless, but you shouldn’t be trapped by the same old sins you once were), and sharing his gospel with other so that as many as possible may come to salvation. In a nutshell, we’re not to give up on God. We’re to stick this relationship out for the long haul. Just as we tend to do in our Earthly relationship, we can’t give up and throw in the towel because things aren’t all we think they should be. When we got into this relationship with Christ we believed that he had a plan and we should (have to) stay faithful to that! Why? Simply because He is faithful!!!

I’m getting excited now! This may make you want to start praising him now, but this isn’t my big build up yet (however, go in if you must!). On the other side, we have God. Now on God’s side are some very wonderful things for our relationship. We have been courted by the most intimate, delicate and passionate being to ever exist. God has given us a glimpse into all he has available for us on Earth but then he takes it a little further. He gives us freedom from bondage, the ability to discern who we are before him, a new family, a new direction and purpose, a life without fear or worry, and hope for our future. Last (among so many other things) but not least we have a promise. This promise is something that is more amazing than life itself! As we hold to our end of the bargain in our relationship with Christ, we are promised life with God forever. I don’t know if you truly understand that (you will praise him shortly). For our obedience, commitment, sacrifice, and faithful living under the authority of Christ, God has promised to be faithful to us in rewarding our servant hood!

Now do you see why we praise God for is faithfulness? It’s his promise to us! You may not have thought about this recently but did you know that God can’t lie? It is absolutely, 100%, unquestionably impossible for God to lie!!!!! Why should you praise God? He has PROMISED he will reward us for our perseverance in Christ! I praise him because He can’t lie and I KNOW that what he has said and what his word say is true! God isn’t like man, that he can lie or flip flop on what he’s promised us, (Numbers 23:19) so in my relationship with God I can hold on with confidence and adoration for him because his is faithful; I trust and believe that wholeheartedly! Do you???

Today as examine another reason why we praise God daily and continually, we pray that if you’re in this great relationship with Christ that this encourages you and strengthens your hope in Christ. If you don’t have this genuine and true relationship with God, we want you to and we want to help you gain your reward that God has promised for you, if you hold up your end of the relationship. God is able to hold up his. Do you want the kind of relationship where each being is giving their best to the other?  You can have that in God! Will you hold on or get connected? Will you let the relationship pass you by? Praise him because of his promises to us; He is faithful to reward your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
