Habakkuk 3:17-18

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: Habakkuk 3:17-18 – Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Is there something that can take your focus off of God so easily? Many times in our lives we let our circumstances dictate our lives. If things are going right, we’re down in the dumps. If we suffer a hardship or a trial, God can’t be anywhere around. If our kids are acting up in school, then there’s no hope for them. If we can’t get the things in life that we want, we must be failures in some way. These are all excuses the enemy tries to use against us to get our focus off of God. He’s good at doing that.

The reality is that you won’t always get what you want or be able to do all the things in life that you wanted. Whether you achieve much or little, whether you have a lot of money or none at all, whether you can take trips around the world or in your backyard, you can and should give God your praise in spite of or in gratitude for!

We have to collectively, as a body of believers get to the point of contentment that supersedes worldly views. Our passion and praises unto God aren’t and shouldn’t be conditioned upon what he has done for us, what he can do for us or when he does for us. It should however be based on the very premise of who He is!

He is our Creator! He is our shelter! He is our Provider! He is our Strength! He is our Wisdom! He is our Talents! He is our Spirit!

Now looking at these things you could think, “Well, he gives us these things as we need”. This is true, however, He doesn’t do it because of who you are…..He does it because of who HE IS!! There is nothing special about me that has made him want to do anything for me…..in actuality, I don’t deserve anything from him but due punishment for my constant acts of betrayal, selfishness and sin. I don’t know about you but that’s a reason in itself to praise God right where you are NOW!!!

Today, the prayer is for us as a body of believers to continue to praise God with joy and genuine happiness in our hearts because he deserves it. Let’s not allow situations, circumstance and things outside of our control determine whether or not if we’re going to give God his glory or not. If you need a reason to give him glory, just look at the new day He has given each of us. He still has you here for a reason and there is a work He wants you to do. It’s not your duty to worry about your lack, God can handle that! Praise Him anyways in the midst of and see what He can do when you’re solely focused on him and able to give him praise just because of WHO HE IS! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
