2 Samuel 7:28

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration:  2 Samuel 7:28 – Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.

On who’s authority can you trust want is told to you in today’s day and age? We look to our political leaders, our teachers, our friends and family and some of us even look to strangers. The question would be can you really trust what that person is saying? The problem with us putting our trust in people is that they are just like us; they are sinful being who only know as much as they’ve been taught or experienced on their own. They don’t have foreknowledge of anything – just as we don’t. They can’t guarantee anything in your life to happen. Most importantly, can’t promise you direction in your life. We hope for the best out of all people and their advice but that is the best we can do.

Unlike people, God has a bigger significance in his words than we can actually phantom. He has given us promises and is the most tested, tried and true being to ever exist. Our problem with that is it unbelievable. Our experiences are limited to what we have had here on Earth. We have never actually been witness to someone who has NEVER lied, who has NEVER came through on their promise, who has LOVED us so much, or has went to such great lengths to show us how much they love us. It truly is unbelievable. Instead of having an attitude of gratitude and absolute belief, we treat God like he’s one of the people we talked about earlier. We tend not to trust him when things look bleak. We say he isn’t with us just because something didn’t go the way we wanted it to. We try to be the lord of our own lives because we think we know what we’re doing and God doesn’t have a clue.

We have to stop treating God as if he is human. Our tainted flesh has ill-equipped us for the experience of a lifetime. We see relationships here on Earth as the example of God’s lack of provision, when in reality it’s our lack of seeing him for who he really is. We can’t put God into our little box of who we think he should be. The bible says to let God be true and every man a liar (Rom. 3:4). Our understanding can’t rest in the knowledge of man simply because man doesn’t know enough. Man hasn’t proven himself to be of the character of our God! So why then do we give people opportunity after opportunity to prove themselves’ to us but we don’t give God a chance to show us that He is faithful and able to do everything he has said?

What God has promised to HIS SERVANTS (let’s be real), he is trustworthy to do! His covenant made between him and mankind is established. The promise and hope of salvation has come. In dedication to a committed life of obedience, sacrifice, and surrender God assures us of freedom in this life. In his goodness to us, he even supplies everything we need and even some of our wants because he said that he would (Matt. 6:33).

God is sovereign, meaning that he has supreme power and authority. Who do you want to trust in or take your promises from? A human being who can only do what the supreme God allows them to do or from the supreme God himself?

Today we have to realize who is really in control and who has the power to do in your life everything they have said and promised they would do – if you would make him the Lord of your life! God has promised good things to us all but they are only attainable if we truly put our trust in him and abide by his teachings and commands. There is only ONE GOD and he is the supreme power and authority over all things. If He’s said it can or will be done, trust in the one who has the power to do it – not people! Give God a chance for once, it will be the thing that changes your life – FOREVER. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
