DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration: 1 Peter 1: 18-19 – For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
Do you realize that there is nothing you can do to get yourself into heaven? There is no amount of good acts that you can compile, nor is there anything that you can give to God that will make him say “Wow, that’s something I’ve never gotten, you’re in!”
We have to remember that God loved US so much that he had his son pay the price for our sins and the sins of our forefathers by dying on the cross and taking the punishment that was rightfully due to us. In today’s terms, God has paid for our huge debt and the currency was Jesus Christ.
Let’s park there for a moment. Jesus Christ is our spiritual currency from God. Does anyone out there today have any debt? Be honest…lol. Of course, we all have some amount of debt. Whether big or small, we all owe somebody something because of a need that we had which needed to be filled but we couldn’t handle for ourselves. For most of us, we owe someone money. Many of us who owe folks money probably owe too many people money. One of the worst parts about owing someone money is it never seems to be enough. You keep paying back what you owe but the balance never seems to go down. You always look like you’re never going to get out of debt. This is a prime example of how our lives look without God. We are indebted and can’t get ourselves out of the jam.
Now let’s look back at this spiritual currency known as Jesus. When God wanted to purchase us from our own indebtedness; when he wanted to pay for our sins, he didn’t do it with currency that wouldn’t be enough. Initially, this was the issue with Old Testament sacrifices. The blood shed of lambs for the atonement of sins wasn’t a good enough currency to resolve the debt of man. God needed a better currency; a more perfect and completely satisfying currency. The Jesus currency was sufficient to take care of all our debt, interest, compound interest and fees. Why? Unlike dollar bills, which can be destroyed, reproduced, faded and the like…..and not to mention was made by man, the blood of Christ is pure, perfect, can’t be remanufactured, never loses it’s worth, isn’t comparable to any other currency in existence, can’t be destroyed, covers debt for eternity and of course it’s from God!!
God made the perfect payment with the perfect type of currency for the debt that we carried. There will never be, nor was there ever any other type of currency that would settle the debt of man like the blood of Jesus.
Today as you move forward in your normal daily activities, we implore you to consider at what cost are you willing to pay to try and make amends for the sins you’ve committed? Do you truly believe you have the currency that will be able to make God forgive your debt? If you have a question about your ability to cover your costs, we have good news for you! There has been a price paid for you debt already. There is someone that made the complete debt disappear and never able to return. If you believe that, genuinely and display that faith through action in your life, your debt can be paid for with the godly currency. Unfortunately, some will not believe in spiritual currency – I ask you this then: How do you pay a spiritual being what you owe, if you don’t have nor believe in the only currency He accepts?
Just as in life, if you’re not able to pay for your debt, it leads to problems, punishments and torment for your lifetime. We pray that you don’t get to the presence of God without your spiritual currency. No one knows for sure, but I think it’s safe to say, if you don’t have any spiritual currency to pay for your spiritual debt, there will be a problem, punishments and torment…….for eternity. Avoid being spiritually in deficit. Jesus the currency available to you, do you believe you need it? We pray you do. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
