Revelation 1:8

DaySpring Daily Word of Inspiration:  Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Alpha: the first; beginning.

Omega: the last of any series; the end.

When we hear these terms we either refer to the Greek alphabet or to God. Most of us had heard the saying but have we allowed it to register in our hearts and souls.

God is and was in the beginning. He was before all and his breathe of life lives in us all still till this day. He started it all first. Without him making a decision to “do”, nothing would be, is, or ever would be. Now I personally love the meaning of Omega. It is the classification of the “last of ANY series”. This is a great concept to relate to God because it showcases His power, His perfection, and His timing. Any series would suggest that whatever has been, he can end, whatever could or would be, he can end, and whatever he has started, he has the power alone to end it. Our lives on this earth are a part of the series of life; the human, fleshly experience. At God’s own choosing, there will be an end to this series and he has the final say of when that is.

There is another part that was beautifully placed into this passage that we dare not overlook. “Who is, and who was, and who is to come.” God is, God was, and God is to come. It gives us a glimpse into God’s eternal presence. Wrapped within God being first and God being the ultimate end (decider of the end of ANY series), we have that he eternally is, eternally was, and eternally will be again. There is no other way to put it, God is in control!

Today we look at our own lives. If God is in control, he’s been here first, he was here then, he is here now, he will come again, and he has the deciding factor on when to end anything he wants; shouldn’t we take a more serious look and reverence at his knowledge, words, and commands? I mean, it would seem like he might know what he’s talking about and plus he seems to be a little more powerful than us?

The scripture reveals a lot to us about who God is in his eternal presence and power. Do you worship him in that revelation and position yourself in reverence to that truth? If you don’t, who do you think is more worthy of that consideration?

We pray today that you have nothing in your life that will hinder you from acknowledging the Alpha and the Omega! God truly is in control of everything in this planned series, our question today would be; are you dedicated to him to be in control of you? He’s done a wondrous work with creation so far, why not let him start and finish a good work in you. To the Alpha and the Omega! In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
